Graeme Oddie, MSW RSW

"When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.” – Viktor E. Frankl, Man’s Search for Meaning.

Graeme Oddie is a Registered Social Worker in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) and the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW). He earned his Bachelor of Social Work from Lakehead University in Thunder Bay and his Master of Social Work from Dalhousie University in Halifax. Graeme also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology, with a focus in Psychology, from Carleton University in Ottawa.

Throughout his career, Graeme has worked across diverse sectors, including providing services to Indigenous populations in Northern Ontario and Western Canada, frontline crisis intervention in addictions and mental health, high-risk child abuse investigations, inpatient forensic mental health, and, more recently, psychotherapy.

Prior to arriving at Hiseler, Kelly & Associates, Graeme was a senior clinician at The Royal Operational Stress Injury Clinic, where he provided psychotherapy to veterans and RCMP clients. He also ran a successful private practice, offering services to veterans, police, and active duty military personnel from CFB Kingston. He is a Blue Cross service provider for Veteran’s Affairs Canada, a Partners in Canadian Veterans Vocational Rehabilitation (PCVRS) associate, and a member of the Wounded Warriors approved clinician directory.

With this background, Graeme brings with him a wealth of experience working with veterans, active-duty military personnel, police officers, and first responders. Graeme specializes in treating Operational Stress Injuries (OSIs) such as PTSD, moral injury, depression, and anxiety. He also has experience supporting trauma-impacted couples and those dealing with substance use disorders. As a civilian, Graeme understands the unique challenges faced by these groups and recognizes the importance of establishing trust in the therapeutic process. This understanding shapes his flexible, non-judgmental, and collaborative approach, which is centered around building strong rapport and meeting each client’s individual needs.

Graeme is trained in a wide range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches for mental health, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Unified Protocol for Transdiagnostic Treatment of Emotional Disorders (UP), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). He also specializes in trauma processing using techniques such as Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Adaptive Disclosure (AD), Trauma-Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (TFACT), and Written Exposure Therapy (WET).

Whether you're looking to return to work, improve relationships, or gain a deeper understanding of how mental health is impacting your life, Graeme is here to support and advocate for you on your journey toward healing.
