Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Group for Anxiety
10-Week Group
Are you feeling overwhelmed with anxiety and worry? Is it difficult to manage stress and emotional ups and downs? Hiseler, Kelly and Associates are now offering a 10-week DBT group specifically for adults 18+ struggling with mild to moderate symptoms of anxiety.
DBT is a well-researched and effective treatment that applies cognitive-behavioural techniques with mindfulness and communication skills. DBT can help those who feel intense emotions as well as anxiety.
In our DBT group you’ll learn skills to:
Stay Grounded in the Present Moment: By learning and fostering mindfulness skills, we can live more fully in the now instead of thinking about worries regarding the past and future.
Managing Emotional Storms: Learn about tools and strategies to understand and manage your emotions, rather than feeling overwhelmed about them.
Resilience in Times of Stress and Crisis: Learn skills and strategies to tolerate distress without resorting to unhelpful coping strategies.
Strengthen Relationships: Learn skills to communicate effectively, asserting your needs and boundaries as well as strengthening connection with others.
Our group session will be more than just a learning experience; it will be a safe and welcoming space. The group will be led by two Registered Social Workers who understand anxiety and are skilled in providing DBT. Each session will be structured to offer support and discussion as well as learning and practicing practical skills.
While we strive to be inclusive to all participants interested in attending the group, this group might not be appropriate for individuals with certain mental health symptoms or diagnoses. These includes those with a diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, current substance abuse, active self-harm, or those struggling with suicidal thoughts within the last six months.
