Janina is a clinician in training currently completing a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. With a strong academic foundation, including an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Carleton University and a Social Service Worker Diploma from St. Lawrence College, Janina brings both knowledge and practical experience to her work.
With over a decade of experience in the social services, Janina has supported individuals and families facing a wide range of challenges, including mental health concerns, addictions, relationship difficulties, traumatic events and navigating high-conflict situations. Working in child welfare, Janina has a wealth of experience in breaking down complex situations into manageable steps, helping clients feel less overwhelmed and more empowered. Using a strength-based and client-centered approach, Janina supports clients in recognizing their resilience, cultivating self-compassion, and taking positive steps forward.
Grounded in a trauma-informed practice, Janina is committed to providing a compassionate and non-judgemental space where clients can explore their emotions, gain clarity and achieve meaningful growth. Janina approaches each client with curiosity, warmth, and an open mind, valuing the uniqueness of everyone’s experiences and journey. With a belief that there is no one size fits all to counselling, Janina draws from different therapeutic modalities to ensure that treatment meets the unique needs of each individual.
Outside of the therapy room, Janina is an outdoor enthusiast, animal lover, and globetrotter who believes in finding joy in life’s small moments. Spending time with her young family, starting yet another home renovation project and exploring local trails is how she spends her free time. Janina is passionate about lifelong learning and personal growth, embracing every opportunity to expand her knowledge and skills, both professionally and personally. She approaches life’s challenges with humor and creativity, believing that laughter can bring lightness to difficult moments and creativity can spark innovative solutions.
